There’s lots of postseason action in Athletics!

Baseball
The baseball team, standing at 20-22 overall and 17-16 in the conference, begins MIAA postseason play beginning Thursday, May 9. The Griffons play University of Central Missouri at 4 p.m. in Pittsburg, Kansas. The team beat the Mules 11-8 on Sunday, May 5 to clinch the #8 seed in the tournament.

Softball
The softball team, standing at 37-16 overall and 21-5 in the MIAA, played in the MIAA championships last weekend and came in second to University of Central Oklahoma. They finished the postseason tournament 3-2 and qualified for the NCAA Central Region Championships that start Thursday, May 9 in Winona, Minnesota.

The Griffons’ loss on May 4 to University of Central Oklahoma in the tournament snapped an 18-game winning streak.

Track and Field
Griffons competed in the MIAA Championships this past weekend, tallying double-digit top 10 finishes on the final day. In the program’s second season, the women’s team took 11th, finishing ahead of Nebraska-Kearney and Central Oklahoma, while the men finished 12th.

Hannah Williams earned a third-place finish in the women’s 400 meter run with a 54.80 in Sunday’s final and Megan Gillen ran a career-best time of 2:12.93 to take fourth place in the women’s 800 meter.

Women’s Golf
Women’s golf is playing in the NCAA Division II Central Region Championship Tuesday, May 7 for day two of the tournament in Muskogee, Oklahoma. They tied for 10th yesterday and Shi Qing Ong tied for sixth individually.
