Griffon soccer (2-2-1) won its second straight game, defeating Missouri Southern (1-4) 1-0 on Craig Field in Spratt Stadium Friday night.
Julia Stahlhuth scored her first career goal in the 13th minute with an assist from Keley Roe. The single goal early was enough for the Griffs, who controlled the tempo throughout. Missouri Western out-shot Southern 19-9 in the first half and 28-3 on the night. Anna Mayer only had to make one save in the game with the Griffs putting 10 shots on frame. The Griffons had 12 corner kicks to Missouri Southern’s three.
Taylor Schwartzkopf led the Griffs again with eight total shots, three on goal. Lillian Davis had six shots with two on goal.
Missouri Western stays home for a game against an MIAA opponent, Northwest (1-3-1). Round one of the rivalry for 2019 is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 22.
