The Child Abuse: Prevention, Education and Investigation Conference will be held on April 17 and 18, 2019 on Missouri Western’s campus.
This is an Interdisciplinary conference for students, educators, law enforcement, nurses, social workers, lawyers, juvenile officers and related professions. Brought to you by the Missouri Western Regional Law Enforcement Academy, the Western Institute at Missouri Western, the Department of Criminal Justice, Legal Studies, and Social Work, the Department of Nursing and Health Professions and the Department of Education. Additional funding was provided to bring in the keynote speakers from The Family Guidance Center, MWSU Foundation and the Joyce Raye Patterson Fund.
Wednesday’s Keynote: Dawn O’Malley will present on The impact of trauma on the developing brain–Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics and NMT . This Keynote speaker is funded by The Family Guidance Center.
Thursday’s Keynote: Mike Boniello will present on Self Care/Compassion Fatigue. This session is funded by the Joyce Raye Patterson Fund.
Following each of these sessions, there will be several great speakers who will be presenting on a variety of topics.
The conference is open to the public. Missouri Western students, faculty, and adjunct instructors may attend for free.
