Commencement Speakers
Mrs. Natalie Hawn graduated from Missouri Western State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications with an emphasis in Public Relations. She has been employed at the St. Joseph Chamber of Commerce since 2005, serving as Senior Vice President of Membership before becoming President and CEO in January of 2022.
Outside of her official duties, Natalie is an active volunteer in the community, serving the United Way, Leadership St. Joseph, the Junior League of St. Joseph, YWCA, Allied Arts Council, and Missouri Western State University Alumni among many others. At the state level she is active in Chamber Executives of Missouri and the Hawthorn Foundation. Nationally, she serves in the Air Mobility Command (AMC) Leadership Academy.
In 2024, Natalie was named one of 10 winners of the Women of Achievement Award by Missouri Lieutenant Governor Mike Kehoe.
Ms. Macioe Firsching is graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry/Molecular Biology, a Bachelor of Science in Biology, and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry.
In addition to her work in the classroom, she has served as a resident assistant, a tutor in the Center for Academic Support, and teaching assistant for an introductory biology lab. Macioe has also been active in numerous student organizations, including two years as President of Beta Beta Beta. She also volunteers at local animal rescue and education centers.
Macioe is from Edwardsville, Illinois. Her future plans include pursuing a Ph.D. in Chemistry at Colorado State University.
Mr. Ethan Lowe is graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Education, Early Childhood Education.
In addition to his studies at Missouri Western, he organized a documentary screening of “Class of Covid-19: A Documentary Film” with a question-and-answer session. He has also taken on a leadership role in the new St. Joseph chapter of the Missouri Association for the Education of Young Children.
Ethan is a product of the St. Joseph School District, and while he was still student teaching was hired by the District as a contract teacher. After graduation, he plans to continue teaching Special Education Preschool at The Lake Contrary Early Learning Center.
