Grad School Goals
Cinema and convergent journalism major Chandra Traxler wants to be a social media marketer in the film industry, and will be attending graduate school after leaving Missouri Western. “When I first came into Missouri Western, I didn’t think grad school was an option,” she said. “Through working with my professors one-on-one, it made me feel more secure. Professors meet with me to go over my portfolio. Missouri Western has made it to where I will be ready for grad school.”
Student Orgs
Chandra is a part of many clubs and organizations on campus, and believes that these have given her opportunities she would not necessarily have had at other universities. “It’s the opportunity to work first-hand in the field that you want to work with, and work with people that want to see you succeed just as much as you want to see them succeed,” she said. She believes the relationships she has built with her peers and professors will far outlast her time at Missouri Western.
Internship
“I have had some really, really amazing professors who have gone out of their way to make sure that what I am doing is good,” said Chandra. Last summer she was able to produce a documentary on the history of St. Joseph because of an internship suggestion by a professor. “I’ve been able to work first-hand with the people I want to be with because of my professors,” she said. “They want you to succeed just as much as you want to succeed.”
