Requirements for admission to Master of Arts in Teaching:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a closely related field from an accredited college or university.
- Cumulative undergraduate GPA of 2.75 minimum
- Provide official transcripts of all previously completed university level work – both undergraduate and graduate.
- Passing score on the Missouri Content Assessment (MOCA)*
- Statement of Purpose: A one-page narrative which describes his/her purpose for seeking admission to a graduate program, as well as what he/she hopes to gain from the experience
* A passing MOCA score is required to become certified as a teacher in Missouri. Options for conditional admission for potential students who have not yet passed the MOCA are available and will be considered in all admission decisions.
TEACH Grant
The Federal Teacher Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant is intended to assist students in becoming highly-qualified teachers and is available to those who are completing coursework in a TEACH Grant-eligible program – a high-need field. SOME M.A.T. curriculum areas may qualify.
