Geothermal Basin in Yellowstone

Over the course of the Spring 2025 semester, you will learn about the unique biology, ecology, geology and history of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.  You will then travel to the Yellowstone Bighorn Research Association field camp at the end of May.   The field camp is a nonprofit field station dedicated to hosting university and educational groups for field trips like this. The station has been actively hosting field camps since 1930, and provides cabins, bathrooms, classrooms, and three meals a day for the full stay. The trip will consist of daily excursions to different habitats within the ecosystem, where you will hike, explore, identify and study the wildlife and geologic features that you learned about in the classroom.  Interested students (anyone with an interest in biology or earth science) should enroll in BIO 220. For more information contact Dr. Karen Koy (kkoy@missouriwestern.edu) or Dr. Kristen Walton (kwalton1@missouriwestern.edu).
