Belize Nursing

Students will participate as part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team providing care to underserved populations in the country of Belize. This experience will enhance respect for culture and diversity as well as explore healthcare through a  populations-based, global lens.  There is rich opportunity for applied learning in an environment that would be different than what can be experienced in either the classroom or in local clinical/internship settings. This educational experience will challenge participants to think critically and participate/communicate in a dynamic/interdisciplinary way. Prerequisites: Acceptance to the School of Nursing and Health Professions Programs is optimal. However, the broad nature of this course would allow faculty to consider students from a variety of career fields.   For more information contact Tammie Conley (tconley1@missouriwestern.edu ) or Julie Baldwin (jbaldwin@missouriwestern.edu)
