Missouri Western will conduct Open Enrollment meetings on October 30 – 31, 2018. During this time, we will discuss the health insurance renewal effective January 1, 2019. We will also provide information on dental insurance, vision insurance, life insurance, flexible spending plans and health savings accounts.
Concerning our health insurance, we were fortunate enough to keep all four medical plan options for the upcoming year, with no plan design changes for 2019. We will however see an increase in premium costs for the HMO and PPO Buy Up plans. We WILL continue to offer employees two FREE PLAN OPTIONS; PPO Base Plan & High Deductible Plan with a continued university contribution to the HSA.
The 2019 open enrollment period for the University will be October 30, 2018 through November 9, 2018. During this time, you MUST make your elections for your 2019 benefits. Plans will not automatically roll forward to the next year. We will use the same online benefit enrollment system as last year. Instructions for the online enrollment will be available at the open enrollment meetings, will be sent via email and posted on the MWSU HR Benefits web page.
Due to the need to prove all benefit eligible employees have been offered health insurance to comply with the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), ALL benefit eligible employees MUST enroll online to elect or decline (waive) coverages for the 2019 plan year.

Representatives from the University’s consultant, TRUSS, along with BCBS, MetLife (dental), VSP (vision), Prudential (life), Discovery (flexible spending provider) and HR will be available for questions. During these meetings, you will be given a 2019 Benefit Summary that will contain all of your benefit options with 2019 rates. The Benefit Summary will also be available in HR and online AFTER the open enrollment meetings are complete.
