A host of activities has been planned for the annual St. Joseph Junior College Reunion on Sunday, May 20, so you’ll definitely want to attend!

The reunion will begin at 11:30 a.m. with the unveiling and dedication of a St. Joseph Junior College plaque at the University Plaza (home of the Griffon statue). The plaque, donated by Dr. William’56, and Phyllis Gondring, celebrates the St. Joseph Junior College as the foundation for Missouri Western today.

Following the ceremony, at approximately noon, a reception will be held in the Spratt Hall Enright Room. During this time, junior college alumni will have the opportunity to participate in our Centennial Video Project.

In anticipation of Missouri Western’s centennial celebration in 2015, we want to capture alumni memories on video, and those attending the reunion can share your memories and be filmed during the reception. Then, we plan to post the videos on the Missouri Western website as part of the centennial celebration, and some may be used in the centennial video we plan to produce.

“The junior college was an outstanding foundation to what Missouri Western is today, and it is so important that memories of those alumni are preserved as part of the centennial,” said Colleen Kowich, alumni services director. “I hope everyone who attends the reunion will participate in the video project.”

The lunch begins at 12:30 p.m. Part of the program following lunch includes a panel of current students who will answer questions from the attendees. And, the class of 1962 will be inducted into the Golden Griffon Society.

Also new this year is a reunion booklet, which we will pass out at the reunion. We will also mail it to all who contributed memories and information about themselves, but couldn’t attend the reunion.

Cost for the reunion is $15 per person. To make a reservation, mail your check and information to MWSU Alumni Services, 4525 Downs Drive, St. Joseph, MO 64507. Deadline is May 11, 2012.
