Center for Military & Veterans Services Scholarship

Military students for the purposes of this scholarship include: Veterans, Active Duty service members, National Guardsmen, or Reservists.

Applicants must meet all of the eligibility requirements listed below and submit the completed application postmarked no later than February 1 for the Spring Semester and September 15 for the Fall Semester.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2.5 GPA
  • Be a Veteran (with a discharge status other than dishonorable), current service member, National Guardsmen, or Reservist
  • Must provide proof of military status (Ie. DD214, NGB 23, Certificate of Eligibility, or Memo from your commander stating you’re a member of your unit in good standing)

Award Amount:

  • $500
  • Limited number awarded
  • Only available to students at the beginning of the semester
  • May receive Center funds in addition to other MWSU scholarships

Military Science / ROTC Scholarship

Scholarships are available each semester for enrolled ROTC students. The awards are for one semester with the possibility of renewal with the recommendation of the ROTC staff. Selection depends upon enrollment in military science courses. Please contact the Department of Military Science for application procedures.

Harold “Pete” and Betty Burchett ROTC Scholarship

This scholarship was established by Harold “Pete” Burchett to support current cadets participating in the ROTC program at Missouri Western. Applicants must be full time students with a minimum GPA of 3.0 who are in good standing with the university and are a participating cadet in the Army ROTC program. One letter of recommendation is required from an ROTC Commander. Preference will be given to applicants who completed a Junior ROTC program in St. Joseph MO.

B-Fit CrossFit Veteran’s Scholarship

This scholarship was established to provide assistance to veterans. The recipient must be a full-time student in good standing with the university. They must have a minimum GPA fo 2.5 and be a veteran.

The VFW has three programs for student veterans

AVECO Scholarship Program

AVECO is proud to announce the AVECO Scholarship Program. The program was created to provide assistance covering educational expenses for veterans and service members and their spouses.

All awards are contingent on annual AVECO board approval of program funding allocations.

Award amounts vary between $500 – $1,000

Awarded to 1 military connected student from member institutions at each of the 8 NAVPA regions across the U.S.
