Missouri Western Magazine, a publication of the University Advancement Office for alumni and friends of Missouri Western State University, has been honored with an Award of Distinction, the Silver Communicator Award, in the 20th annual Communicator Awards, sanctioned and judged by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts. Diane Holtz is editor of Missouri Western Magazine. Kendy Jones ’94 is design editor.
“It is always gratifying to have our team’s outstanding work recognized on an international level,” said Jerry Pickman ’85, vice president for university advancement. “Congratulations to Diane, Kendy and all of the others involved in creating a magazine that reflects so positively on Missouri Western.”
The 2014 Communicator Awards received more than 6,000 entries from across the United States and around the world. It is one of the largest and most competitive awards programs honoring creative excellence for communications professionals.

Missouri Western Magazine was honored for the Winter 2014 issue, which featured the dedication of the Walter Cronkite Memorial on the cover. The magazine previously received a Gold Communicator Award in 2008, and various Missouri Western publications have received Silver Communicator Awards in 2006 and 2010. Missouri Western’s Instructional Media Center has also been honored several times in the video division of the Communicator Awards.
