The public is invited to an open dress rehearsal for the opera production, “La Tragédie de Carmen” at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 21 in the Kemper Recital Hall, inside Spratt Hall on the Missouri Western State University campus.

“La Tragédie de Carmen” is a 90-minute version of Bizet’s “Carmen” created by the stage director Peter Brook. It will be presented completely in French. The rehearsal is for members of the Alliance Français de Saint Joseph, but is open to the public. Admission is free, but donations to support Missouri Western opera vocal student scholarships are welcome.

Students and faculty members will produce the opera at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, May 1 and 2, and 3 p.m. Sunday, May 3 at the Restoration Church, 2nd and Francis Streets in downtown St. Joseph. Unlike the dress rehearsal, the performances will include television monitors with English surtitles, for those who don’t speak French.
