Dr. David Karp, professor of sociology and director of the Project on Restorative Justice at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York, will present a lecture at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, in the Wilson Hall, room 205. The talk, “Restorative Justice on the University Campus: Repairing Harm and Building Community,” is free and open to the public. The time and place have been changed because bad weather disrupted Dr. Karp’s travel plans.
Dr. Karp’s scholarship focuses on restorative justice in community and campus settings and on prison programs preparing inmates for return to the community. He was the recipient of the 2010 Donald D. Gehring Award from the Association for Student Conduct Administration for his work on campus restorative justice. Dr. Karp has published more than 100 academic papers and six books, and is on the Advisory Council for the National Association for Community and Restorative Justice and the Board of Directors for the New York State Dispute Resolution Association.
Dr. Karp’s appearance at Missouri Western is sponsored by the Peace and Conflict Studies program, the Center for Multicultural Education and the Missouri Western State University Foundation.
