The Department of History and Geography at Missouri Western State University will launch the Mary Boder History Speaker Series with a presentation on U.S. relations with Cuba at noon on Friday, Oct. 21 in Popplewell Hall, room 105. A brown bag lunch and discussion with the speaker will follow at 1 p.m. in Popplewell 111. Both events are free and open to the public.
The talk by Dr. Michael Neagle, assistant professor of History at Nichols College in Massachusetts, is titled “Becoming Good Neighbors: Americans on Cuba’s Isle of Pines.” He will talk about U.S. relations with Cuba in the twentieth century and American efforts to settle there. Dr. Neagle earned his bachelor’s degree from College of the Holy Cross, and his master’s and doctorate degrees from the University of Connecticut.
