For the 20th consecutive year, the Missouri Court of Appeals-Western District will convene on the campus of Missouri Western State University at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 4 in the Kemper Recital Hall, inside Spratt Hall.

A three-judge panel consisting of Judge Victor Howard, Judge Alok Ahuja and Judge Rex Gabbert will hear oral arguments in three cases.

These cases are appeals from previously held trials in area circuit courts. The judges will hear attorneys argue whether the trials had errors that should cause them to be retried, or the trial court’s judgment reversed. The judges will read written arguments before the court session, and may interrupt the attorneys’ arguments with questions. Review case summaries here.

The judges will break sometime during the arguments to give a general overview for students of the judicial system and the appellate judiciary in particular.

For further information, please contact Suzanne Kissock, legal studies program coordinator in the Department of Criminal Justice, Legal Studies and Social Work at (816) 271-4454.

This event is sponsored by the Missouri Western Department of Criminal Justice, Legal Studies and Social Work. It is free and open to the general public.
