The Missouri Western State University chapter of Beta Beta Beta National Biological Honor Society will induct new members during a ceremony at 7 p.m. Feb. 7 in the Kemper Recital Hall, Spratt Hall room 101. Gary Staab, noted sculptor of natural history and archaeological subjects, will be the guest speaker. The ceremony and talk are free and open to the public.
Staab lives and works in Kearney, Missouri. He has produced life-size replicas of dinosaurs and other subjects for museums such as the American Museum of Natural History in New York and the Smithsonian Institution, National Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C, among many others. His efforts to replicate Otzi, a 5,000-year-old mummy found in the Alps in 1991, were chronicled in the documentary “Iceman Reborn” that aired as part of the PBS series “Nova” in 2016.
