Missouri Western State University presents the rock musical “Spring Awakening” Feb. 23 through March 3 in the Potter Hall Theater, a production of the Department of Theatre, Cinema and Dance and the Department of Music. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 23 and 24 and March 1-3, with a Sunday matinee at 2 p.m. Feb. 25. Tickets are $14 for adults, $12 for Missouri Western faculty and staff, and $8 for students, with free admission for current Missouri Western students with valid ID.
“Spring Awakening,” based on an 1891 play by Frank Wedekind, explores the journey from adolescence to adulthood with a poignancy and passion that is illuminating and unforgettable. It won eight Tony Awards in 2007, including Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical and Best Original Score.
