Missouri Western State University and the YWCA are co-sponsoring “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes: The International Men’s March to Stop Rape, Sexual Assault and Gender Violence” at 5 p.m. Monday, April 2 inside the Small Gym in the Looney Complex. The walk is free and open to the public.
Walk a Mile in Her Shoes asks men to literally walk a mile in women’s high-heeled shoes as a way of starting conversations about what women experience.
To walk or volunteer, sign up at www.missouriwestern.edu/cme/. The first 25 walkers who sign up will get to walk in the Walk a Mile in Her Shoes official shoes. Prizes will be awarded to the groups with the most members in attendance.
The walk is one of several events planned during April, which is national Sexual Assault Awareness Month. It is sponsored by the YWCA, the Center for Multicultural Education and Missouri Western’s Title IX Office.
