Missouri Western has announced the schedule and activities for its annual Family Weekend events, which will be held Sept 21 and 22, 2018.
Events kick off at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21, with Midwest Dueling Pianos, an audience-participating experience featuring a mix of classics and new music. The performance will be in the Kemper Recital Hall, Spratt Hall room 101. Admission is free and open to the public.
Family Day festivities resume Saturday, Sept. 22, with the President’s Pasta Extravaganza from noon to 1 p.m. in the Remington Atrium on campus. Students, staff and the St. Joseph community are invited to join Missouri Western’s President, Dr. Robert Vartabedian for lunch at a four-station, all-you-can-eat pasta buffet. Cost is $5 per person, and guests should RSVP online by Sept. 14.
Also on Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Remington Atrium, activities include an Art Show featuring Kenneth Young, Clearly You Crystal Laser 3-D Images, Stuff-A-Plush build-your-own plush toy, photo booth and planetarium shows.
All activities except lunch are free, but 3-D laser images, stuff-a-plush, photo booth and planetarium shows are on a first-come, first-served basis. Advance planetarium tickets will be available beginning Sept. 3. Students are entitled to a free planetarium ticket if they present their MWSU Student ID in Blum 207.
After 3 p.m., students and guests can enjoy the rest of the afternoon tailgating with family and friends before the Missouri Western football game vs. Northeastern State University at 6 p.m. at Craig Field in Spratt Memorial Stadium. Game tickets may be purchased in advance at gogriffons.com.
