Arts in the Park kicked off Friday afternoon with Missouri Western State University students teaching arts and crafts to children.
This free art lesson was a precursor of the free musical production, “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown,” which began at 6 p.m.
James Simon, a sophomore at Missouri Western, showed kids how to draw Snoopy, a character from Charlie Brown. It was not the traditional way with a pen and paper, but instead with a device called a Zbrush. It resembles a pen and allows the artist the ability to move the object in three dimensions.
Simon is studying digital animation with sculpture as his minor.
“Learning a lot of these programs for 3-D modeling takes a bit of time,” Simon said. “It’s a blast being out here with everyone being around.”
