Oct. 21, 2021–Missouri Western State University and YWCA St. Joseph will host a Domestic Violence memorial walk at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22 to wrap up the YWCA’s Week Without Violence. The walk will start in Lot H near the Baker Fitness Center, and circle the campus on Downs Drive, a distance of approximately one mile.
The walking path will be lined with signs honoring women, men and children who lost their lives to Domestic Violence.
If you or anyone you know has experienced domestic or dating violence please know that there are options available both on campus and in the community for support and to report. On campus you can report to the Title IX Office (816-271) or the University Police (816-271-4438), or you can speak with someone confidentially in the Counseling Center (816-271-4327), or through the Employee Assistance Program. In St. Joseph, you can contact the YWCA of St. Joseph (816) 232-4481 or (816) 232-1225 for 24-hour hotline for Survivor Support services including emergency housing, help with orders of protection and making police reports, counseling, court advocacy, and other services.
