Sept. 22–Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with food, music and salsa dancing at the annual Missouri Western State University Hispanic Heritage Banquet at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28 in the Fulkerson Center. Admission is free, but pre-registration is required at griff.vn/HHeritage22.
The banquet will feature Latin cuisine and live music with Alexis Arai Y Su Grupo Latino. Alexis Arai’s four-octave range and eclectic style allows her to smoothly transition from the sultriest of jazz to the liveliest of pop. Arai performed on the stages of The Voice and American Idol and made it to the semifinals of Tengo Talento Mucho Talento. She performs bilingually both stateside and internationally.
The banquet will also feature remarks from Dr. Federico Rivas-Gotz of Mosaic Life Care and Isaura Garcia, member of the St. Joseph School District Board of Education.
