Nov. 4, 2022–The Center for Military and Veterans Services at Missouri Western State University will host a series of events in honor of Veterans Day Nov. 7-11. A highlight of the week will be guest speaker George Luz Jr., whose father was a paratrooper with the unit featured in the HBO miniseries “Band of Brothers.”

Luz will present “Through My Father’s Eyes,” a presentation including photos, letters and insider stories about the men of Easy Company from a man who grew up with them. Historian Stephen E. Ambrose wrote about the company in “Band of Brothers: E Company, 506th Regiment, 101st Airborne: From Normandy to Hitler’s Eagle’s Nest.” The book was later adapted into a miniseries for HBO by Tom Hanks, Erik Jendreson and Steven Spielberg. George Luz Sr. was portrayed by actor Rick Gomez in the series.

Luz will speak at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, in the Enright Community Room, Spratt Hall room 214. The talk is free and open to the public.
