Oct. 27, 2023–St. Joseph’s annual Walk for the Homeless will be held on Friday, November 3, 2023, in downtown St. Joseph. Registration will open at 4 p.m. and the walk will begin at 4:30 p.m.
Participants will start at the corner of 6th and Messanie and walk the migratory route of the homeless with various stopping points at social service agencies that serve the homeless population. Participants will also assist with trash pickup along the route as a gesture of goodwill to the city and downtown businesses.
The Walk for the Homeless raises money to assist the homeless community in St. Joseph to obtain I.D. cards, birth certificates, and transportation.
Anyone can participate free of charge. However, for a $20 donation, donors can receive a Walk for the Homeless t-shirt. Food is provided following the walk.
To register in advance, click the “register” tab at stjwalkforthehomeless.org.
The walk is sponsored in part by the Missouri Western State University social work program and the Organization of Student Social Workers in partnership with Northwest Health Services, Summers Motors and many local organizations and businesses.
