Dr. Elizabeth Kennedy, Missouri Western State University president, sent the following email to Missouri Western students and employees on Feb. 11, 2024:
Greetings,
For the second year in a row and third time in five years, our summer guests, the Kansas City Chiefs, are Super Bowl champions! What a thrill to watch the hard work we witnessed in July and August pay off with a championship trophy in February.
The Kansas City Sports Commission will celebrate with a Chiefs Kingdom Victory Parade and Rally on Wednesday. Many local schools will be closed, and traffic in and around Kansas City will be a challenge. In recognition of the difficulties this will present to our students, faculty and staff who commute from Kansas City, and in appreciation for the hard work so many of you play in helping us host training camp each year, Missouri Western State University classes will be canceled and campus will be closed on Wednesday, Feb. 14.
Students, note that some faculty may choose to do a virtual learning day. Talk to your instructor and check Canvas regularly.
Celebrate the day safely and responsibly, and Go Chiefs!
Best,
Elizabeth
