Sept. 14, 2021–Missouri Western State University is offering prospective students an immersive look at Griffon life this fall. The Griffon Experience will include interactive demonstrations and learning opportunities from different academic disciplines.
“Missouri Western is the state’s official applied learning institution, and the Griffon Experience will reflect that,” said Evan Banks, campus visits program coordinator. “Our guests will not only hear about the quality of our education and programs, they’ll get to experience that quality through hands-on learning experiences presented by our faculty and staff.”
Each Griffon Experience will last from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. In addition to the interactive learning experiences, the event will include campus tours, student panels, a resource fair and lunch.
Three Griffon Experiences are scheduled this fall:
Health Professions, Sept. 18
Join Missouri Western State University faculty, staff and students as they demonstrate what it’s like to work in the field of health and wellness professions. Showcased majors are: Biology-Health Sciences, Health and Exercise Science, Nursing, Health Information Management, Population Health Management, Physical Therapist Assistant, Medical Laboratory Science, Social Work and Psychology.
Fall Open House, Oct. 2

A True Crime Halloween, Oct. 30
Whodunnit?! Find out as we solve the Mystery of the Missing Mace. Enjoy the day as you learn about majors and disciplines centered around the justice system. Students will see a criminology lab and do splatter analysis, draw connections between themes, motives, and research who stole our coveted ceremonial mace while collecting clues and working together to find the culprit. As a tribute to Missouri Western’s applied learning mission, students will get hands-on experience with what it is like to study humans and how they interact with their environments. Showcased majors are: Forensic Investigation, Chemistry, Psychology, Law, Legal Assistant, and Criminal Justice.
