The Western Activities Council at Missouri Western State University presents two nationally known performers live in concert on campus early next month. Singer/songwriter Mandy Harvey will perform at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 3 in the Potter Hall Theater. Harvey’s concert is free and open to the public. Comedian Marlon Wayans will perform at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 5 in the Looney Complex Arena. Wayans’ performance is free for Missouri Western students with student ID and $5 for all others.
Mandy Harvey competed on Season 12 of “America’s Got Talent” in 2017, receiving the coveted “Golden Buzzer” from judge Simon Cowell to reach the quarterfinals and finishing fourth overall. She has appeared on many platforms including The Today Show, The Steve Harvey Show, and Dr. Oz.
While studying music education at Colorado State University, Harvey lost her hearing at age 18. She served as an Invisible Disability Ambassador for the Invisible Disabilities Association, and received the IDA’s Inspiration Award in 2015.
Marlon Wayans has been in show business for 30 years as an actor, writer and producer, most recently as the star of NBC’s “Marlon.” But last month, he entered new territory by releasing his first stand-up comedy special, “Woke-ish,” on Netflix.
Doors for Marlon Wayans will open at 6 p.m., and general public tickets must be purchased at the door. A limited number of floor seats will be made available to Missouri Western students who bring items for the Campus Cupboard pantry to the Center for Student Involvement, Blum Student Union room 207.
Because of explicit language and mature content, the Wayans show is limited to those 18 and older. No bags or purses may be brought in to the show.
