Missouri Western offers many avenues of assistance that may help navigate obstacles to your success. Please contact one or more of the following campus resources that will provide additional help:

Counseling Center — Eder Hall 203, (816) 271-4327 — The Counseling Center is designed to help students with problems, both academic and personal, that might interfere with their educational pursuits. Counseling is confidential and free of charge. Counselors can assist with overcoming anxiety, managing stress, improving relationships, developing independence and decision-making ability, addressing feelings of apathy and mild depression, and many other problems.


Emergency Scholarship Fund — The Student Emergency Scholarship Fund provides financial assistance to Missouri Western State University undergraduate or graduate students who are in danger of withdrawing due to unanticipated, temporary financial hardships resulting from emergency or crisis situations (e.g., accident, illness, death of a family member). Funds will be awarded as a scholarship to help alleviate short-term financial needs.


Financial Aid — If your situation has changed, it may be helpful to meet with the Financial Aid staff to determine if there are any other financial aid resources available to you.


Free Transit — Missouri Western faculty, staff, and students ride the St. Joseph Transit system FREE! Just show your MWSU ID as you enter the bus.


Campus Cupboard — Blum Union 214, (816) 271-4432 — The Campus Cupboard provides Missouri Western students with supplemental food when they may not be able to afford nutritional staples. The Cupboard is open 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. If alternative hours are needed, please stop by the Dean of Students office in Blum Union room 228, or email deanofstudents@missouriwestern.edu.


Title IX — Blum Union 228, (816) 271-4432 — The Title IX Coordinator can provide assistance for students who have faced violence against women, sexual assault, sex discrimination, sexual harassment, or sexual violence. The Title IX Coordinator can also assist with parenting students and pregnant students.


Disrupted Attendance Resource Team (DART) — The Disrupted Attendance Resource Team (DART) was designed to assist students navigate campus resources if they are going to be unable to attend class. Reasons for assistance include bereavement, pregnancy, parenting, illness, injury, accident, natural disaster, or similar situations.


Residential Life — Roommate issues? Want to check out an item? Maintenance needed? Res Life is here to help. Each floor has a Resident Assistant, who is an undergraduate student who can help! Each building has an assigned Hall Director, who is a professional staff member who can also assist!
