Hello from the Center for Student Involvement (CSI)! In the CSI, we express that we are the central location on campus for all things social connections. We believe that social wellness is crucial for our Griffons, and one of the best ways to improve social wellness is through social connections. There are numerous ways to get involved on campus from our 70+ Recognized Student Organizations (RSO) to attending our Griffon Activity Programming (GAP) Events! Today we are going to highlight three different areas to help promote social wellness to your Missouri Western students.

GAP
The purpose of GAP, a division of the MWSU Student Government Association, is to provide students with fun, inclusive, and engaging experiences on campus. GAP strives to assist in the development of a culture of enthusiasm, engagement, and social connectivity. Additionally, GAP is firmly resolved to provide opportunities for leadership and allow students to take agency in the realm of campus engagement. Make sure to follow GAP on Instagram to see all of the different ways to get involved: @griffonactivities
By attending GAP events, students can:

  • Get connected.
  • Attend fun and free events.
  • Make friends.
  • Boost their student experience.

Fraternity and Sorority Life:
Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL) is another way that students can get more involved in their student experience. At Missouri Western State University students have the chance to join one of 8 different chapters on campus. To learn more about FSL, come to Western Warm-Up August 29 from 11 am – 2 pm outside by Kelley Commons!

By joining a chapter, students can:

  • Gain leadership skills.
  • Build connections.
  • Be a part of a community.
  • Participate in volunteer opportunities.

Welcome Week
Welcome Week is a campus-wide event that welcomes Griffons into the family and celebrates the return of students to Missouri Western. These events are designed to get students involved and engaged right as soon as they arrive to MWSU.

By attending Welcome Week events, students can:

  • Learn about different RSOs.
  • Meet their peers in a fun and interactive way.
  • Learn about Missouri Western State University as the community of St. Joseph.
  • Win fun prizes and receive MWSU swag.

Getting involved at Missouri Western State University is one of the most crucial components of improving your student’s social well-being. The CSI houses numerous organizations and opportunities for your students to get involved, get connected, and have the college experience that they are excited about.
