John E. Downs played an integral role in moving Missouri Western State University to its present location. To honor his commitment to establishing a four-year college in St. Joseph, the circular drive around the Missouri Western campus was named for him. The John E. Downs spring exhibit explores Downs’ life, including his military service, political career, civic awards and contributions to Missouri Western. The exhibit will run through the end of the semester in the library, located in the Hearnes Center.
