The spring 2020 Honors Program Recognition and Awards Ceremony was held via Zoom on May 7. The honors program was officially established in 1987. Since then, over 1,000 students have participated in the program.

Participating in the honors program includes greater interaction with faculty, completing honors classes and outreach experiences, working with students in the Student Honors Organization, Alpha Chi or Honors League and also living on the academic achievement floor of Vaselakos Hall.

Spring 2020 graduate students awarded medals for completing their general studies honors curriculum are: Mary Archer – Chesterfield, MO; Raegan Britt – Shawnee, KS; Jacob Christian – Cameron, MO; Lindsey Davis – California, MO; Noelia Depietro – St. Joseph, MO; Emily Frazier – St. Joseph, MO; Rachel Green – Cameron, MO; Nicklaus Hanlan – St. Joseph, MO; Robert McCammon – St. Joseph, MO; Emily McCrary – Stewartsville, MO; Alexis Meyer – Omaha, NE; Alex Morehead – St. Joseph, MO; Lauryn Muir – St. Joseph, MO; Valerie Nierman – Liberty, MO; Andrew Peterson – St. Joseph, MO; Rebecca Prest – Mishawaka, IN; Allison Reinkemeyer – Freeburg, MO; Jacqueline Riley – Independence, MO; Abigail Rinehart – Jefferson City, MO; Kamryn Smith – Wathena, KS; Weston Smith – St. Joseph, MO; Rebecca Wheeler – Mound City, MO and Isaac Whitman – Lincoln, NE.

Students awarded medals for completing their majors honors curriculum are: Rachel Green – Cameron, MO and Taylor Robinson – Joplin, MO.

Each graduate student that earned a medal had the opportunity to name their most influential professor. Professors awarded a certificate were: Perry Adkins; Dr. Jason Baker; Thomas Brecheisen; Peter Britton; Dr. Teddi Deka; Grey Endres; Teresa Harris; Dr. Elise Hepworth; Dr. Shauna Hiley; Dr. Heather Kendall; Dr. Jon Mandracchia; Dr. Mark Mills; Dr. Jeff Poet; Jeff Stover; Dr. Corey White and Latha Varghese.

The Student Honors Organization (SHO) awarded Dr. Pam Clary as the faculty member with outstanding contributions to the honors program.
