The National Student Employment Association (NSEA) in conjunction with the Midwest Association of Student Employment Administrators (MASEA) coordinates a National Student Employee of the year to recognize the outstanding achievements of students who work while attending college.

Congratulations to Evan M. Banks, our 2018 Missouri Western State University Student Employee of the Year and Student Employee of the Year for the State of Missouri.

Banks was also selected as one of two winners for the Alpha Chi National Gaston Scholarship, a $3,000 award. He submitted a paper, “Breathing anarchy into luftballons: The role of music in European cold war history,” to Alpha Chi’s Gaston and Nolle Scholarship competition.

Just two individuals from the 62 applicants are selected for the Gaston Scholarship. He was announced as a recipient during this year’s national convention in Portland, Oregon on Saturday, April 7, 2018.

Banks is an honors student currently working on his majors honors project which is in both the Department of History and Department of Economics, Political Science and Sociology.

Alpha Chi is a national honors society that invites the top 10% of Juniors, Seniors and Graduate Students to join. Currently, Banks is the president of Missouri Western State University’s chapter, which is the Missouri Lambda chapter of Alpha Chi.
