The Legal Studies Association will assist transgender individuals with name changes from 5:30-9 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7 in Remington Hall 105.
Attorneys and Legal Studies students will help individuals fill out the proper paperwork so that they can file pro se (on your own and represent yourself in court) for a name change. They may be able to pair some people with attorneys in some cases.
They will discuss the process with the individual and help draft the paperwork on a computer. They also have forms that help with requesting other documents to be updated, such as a driver’s license.
They will not be assisting with gender-marker changes at the clinic, but we may be able to refer individuals who need help with that to an attorney.
