Wow! We can’t believe the semester is halfway over. The saying is true – time flies when you’re having fun! Our staff has absolutely enjoyed getting to know your students. Together, we have had over 850 different interactions and 90 different programs for students to attend throughout the semester.

As we move into the latter part of the semester, here are important details about fall and winter breaks.

Fall Break

Fall Break begins on Saturday, November 20, and ends on November 28. The residence halls will not close during fall break. Students can remain on campus at no additional charge. Remember—campus dining locations are closed during this time. Students will receive a registration email for fall break at the beginning of November. If your student needs to remain on campus, they must complete the registration form in the email.

Additionally, Fall Break Health & Safety Checks will take place on Friday, Nov. 19. Residence Hall staff will check all rooms to ensure they are prepared for an extended break.

Winter Closing

Halls will close for winter break at noon on Sunday, Dec. 19. Students must vacate their room 24 hours after their last final. If your student is participating in graduation, they must vacate by noon that Sunday. Residential Life staff will begin checking all rooms at noon that day.

Students do not need to remove all belongings from their room, but we encourage students to take everything they might need over the break. Access to rooms will be limited during the break. Step-by-step instructions for this process will be emailed to all students in December. Additionally, a mandatory winter break floor meeting will be held to cover all closing details.

If your student has obligations in St. Joe and needs to remain on campus over winter break, please remind them to complete the Winter Break Housing form. This form is available for pick-up and drop-off at the Commons Building front desk beginning in December. There is an extra weekly charge to stay over winter break. As a reminder, students staying over winter break must abide by all COVID-19, Residential Life, and University policies. Additionally, students are not allowed to have guests during winter break.

We continue to work diligently to provide a secure and educational environment for all students. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
