Welcome to First-Year Experience (FYE)
Welcome to the First-Year Experience (FYE) at Missouri Western State University! We are thrilled that you are here and look forward to spending this time with you. The FYE is designed to help students prepare for college and to assist family members in understanding their student’s transition. We have created the following programs to help students feel comfortable on our campus.
First-Year Griffon Guide
After registering for Griffon Orientation (GO) students will have access to a virtual resource, the First-Year Griffon Guide through Canvas. This guide includes reminders for the essential steps new students need to complete, helpful videos and resources, as well as a way to connect with fellow incoming Griffons. The guide can be accessed through an internet browser or through the Canvas Student mobile application.
Griffon Orientation
Griffon Orientation (GO) is a one-day program designed for students and their families or support systems to prepare you for your start at Missouri Western. At GO, you’ll connect with current students, complete important steps like getting your student ID, and enroll in classes. We strive to help you leave GO feeling prepared to arrive on campus when classes begin. Click here to learn more.
Griffon Edge
In August, students will attend an extended orientation program called Griffon Edge. This program occurs the week before classes begin. Students will become familiar with campus, participate in campus traditions, and most of all get connected to fellow Griffons. Students receive a credit hour upon completion of Griffon Edge. Over 800 incoming students enroll in this class to serve as the first step in their Griffon journey. Click here to learn more.
